Established in 2012 by Nicholas Germann, M:DF's focus is the seamless integration of Analog and Digital Tool Sets into the practice of Design and Making.

With the wide spread utilization of CAD, CAM, and CNC technologies, comes the need to establish working methodologies that utilize these digital tools to their highest potential.  Here at M:DF, it is the belief that those potentialities lie in the realm of Craftsmanship, both its philosophical and physical manifestations.

M:DF sees Craftsmanship (in an overarching sense) as a process, a combination of both “process' of thought” and “process’ of action". What this means is that an intended “object” (physical, virtual, of any scale) that is said to have characteristics of craftsmanship, showcases this combined process. This involves the holistic integration of its Design, Materials, and its Means of production.

Through this established workflow, M:DF seeks to establish products and projects that exemplify and integrate this Craftsmanship process.
